Recently we have been working on some really cool products and projects. One of the projects we can share and promote a little is a beverage rating system that will be implemented in bars, breweries and pubs to help people find their new favorite drinks and become more informed then ever. The product is called the Brew Buttn and recently we have design the part on Autodesk Inventor, 3D printed some prototypes and obtained some manufacturing quotes. We can only hope to continue to work with brewbuttn.com to help grow their company and become part of a really unique oppurtunity. Check out their website for additional info!
One of my personal favorite prints that I have seen is the planetary gear set. With moving parts, meshing parts and precision a must, a planetary gear set is not only cool to look at and tinker with but really showcases the abilities of a 3D printer. Having said for awhile now I have wanted to print my own planetary gears, between pushing it off and having clients jobs printing I could never find the time until recently. Bellow is a picture of a planetary gear set that I printed, anyone can get the file on thingiverse. Eventually when I have more free time I am going to design and print my own my own gear set. That should be a fun project as well! In addition I really think it would be cool to manufacture a little planetary gear set with an electric motor on the back that is battery operated. It would make a great desk piece or coffee table piece!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope everyone is having a good day with family and friends and for those of you who have to work black friday, I feel your pain. I once too worked retail during a Christmas Holiday season, worst experience. Anyway, I did a little bit of 3D printing today. I fould a model I liked on Grabcad.com and decided to print it out. The actual piece was printed on my Lulzbot Taz 5, using PLA plastic. For extra detail I used sharpie and paint pens to add color/detail. Such easy methods of adding details/color goes a long way. Whether it be spray paint, sharpies, markers, paint pens or another easy medium to work with, using simple tools is the easiest way to bring your prints to life. For more advanced techniques primers and acrylics can be utilized for extreme detail and perfection. We will be posting more information on this soon!
